MEN'S LACROSSE COACHING STAFF
Brian Holman, a veteran coach and former standout lacrosse goalkeeper at Johns Hopkins University joined the University of Utah in 2016 as the new Head Coach of the Men's Lacrosse team after serving eight years as an assistant for the North Carolina men's lacrosse program. In his eight seasons, the Tar Heels won an ACC Championship in 2013 and a National Championship in 2016.
Holman's lacrosse pedigree is a distinguished one indeed as a player and coach. He has been involved in collegiate lacrosse at all levels for the past 35 years as a player, coach and parent. Holman attended Johns Hopkins and was a member of the Class of 1983. As a player, he was a three-time All-America selection and played in four NCAA Tournament Championship games from 1980-83. Hopkins won the 1980 National Championship his freshman year.
Brian served as the goalkeeper coach and defensive coordinator at Johns Hopkins for seven years and won the 1987 National Championship. He was also an assistant coach at the Boys' Latin School of Maryland, head coach in the Maryland Youth Lacrosse Association and served as head coach of the Breaker's Club Lacrosse Team in Baltimore, Md.
Brian and his wife, Laurie, both from Maryland, have three children and all have had a life of lacrosse. Laurie, a graduate of Towson University, played lacrosse and tennis and served as the Volunteer Assistant Coach in 2010 and Director of Operations/Camps for UNC Women's Lacrosse from 2011 to 2017. Matthew, a resident of Baltimore, MD, played goalkeeper for the Tar Heels and graduated in 2012. Marcus, an Assistant Coach for the Utes, played in the MLL and is now in the PLL. He was an All-America attackman for the Tar Heel men's lacrosse team and graduated in 2013 as the school's career scoring leader. He won honors as the ACC Freshman of the Year in 2010 and was elected captain of the 2012 and 2013 teams. Marcus was a 2013 Tewaaraton Trophy finalist, 3 time All American honors, ACC Offensive Player of the Year and ACC Tournament MVP. He is a member of Team USA and played in the 2014 and 2018 World Championship games and brought home a Gold Medal when the games were played in Netanya, Isreal. He also played for Team USA in the 2015 Indoor World Championship. Sydney graduated from UNC in 2017 and had an outstanding career as well for the lady Tar Heels where she was named an IWLCA All American, ACC Honors & National Rookie of the year in 2014.
Adam Ghitelman joined the Utes coaching staff in 2016 as the Defensive Coordinator. Ghitelman joins the staff from USC where he was the Head Coach of the men's lacrosse club team. Ghitelman led the Trojans to their first ever SLC tournament appearance in program history. Before moving to California, Ghitelman was the Co-Defensive Coordinator, Goaltender Coach, and Recruiting Coordinator at Harvard University. Ghitelman helped lead the team to a regular season Ivy League Championship in 2015 and mentored multiple All-Americans.
Ghitelman played for the Atlanta Blaze as their starting goalie and captain. He was a 2017 MLL All Star and now plays in the new PLL. He is a University of Virginia graduate '11, a 4-year letterman, captain, 2X All-American and 2011 National Champion.

'The opportunity to be influential in the growth of the game and to continue to build the Utah lacrosse program to new and spectacular heights is my priority."
Off the field, Ghitelman continues to be entrenched in lacrosse. In 2011, Ghitelman, along with John Galloway and Kip Turner, formed G3 Lacrosse, a goalie focused program dedicated to improve goalie skill throughout the country. Ghitelman also worked as a Marketing Coordinator for StringKing Lacrosse, a lacrosse equipment company based in Southern California.
Marcus Holman - Assistant Offensive Coach
Marcus Holman joined the Utes lacrosse staff in 2016 as an Assistant Offensive Coach. He played in the MLL for the Ohio Machine for 6 seasons and served as captain the past 4. He was 2017 MVP of the MLL Championship win over Denver, 2014 Machine Offensive Player of the Year and an MLL All-Star the past 5 seasons. He is a member of Team USA and played in the 2014 and 2018 World Championship games and brought home a Gold Medal from Netanya, Isreal in the summer of '18. Also played for Team USA in the 2015 Indoor World Championship games.
After graduating from UNC, Marcus helped grow the sport of lacrosse all over the country and internationally working camps/clinics for top programs. He served as an assistant coach at Durham Academy from 2014-2015 and Cary Academy in 2016 along with coaching for Bucktown Club Lacrosse in Raleigh, NC.
Marcus is from Baltimore, Maryland and attended the Gilman school. He played lacrosse at the University of North Carolina and graduated in 2013 as a 3x All-American. He finished his collegiate career with 213 points, 121 goals and 92 assists breaking a UNC record. In 2013, led the Tar Heels to the ACC Championship, was sole team captain, and a Tewaaraton Finalist. He won the Turnbull Trophy as the Tar Heels' MVP for 3 consecutive years and most valuable offensive player for two years. He earned first team All-America honors and was named ACC Rookie of the Year in 2010.
Will Manny - Assistant Offensive Coach
Will Manny joined the Utes lacrosse staff in 2016 as an Assistant Offensive Coach after completing 2 years at Wagner College running the offense and receiving his MBA in Management. Both seasons at Wagner were record setting with the most consecutive wins in school history. He played in the MLL for 5 years with the Boston Cannons and Long Island Lizards. He was a captain with the Cannons for two years and named 2015 and 2016 Offensive Player of the Year, was 2016 MVP and has been an MLL All-Star the past 4 seasons. Manny has been in the top 10 in scoring the past 4 summers. He is currently a member of the new PLL. After graduating from UMass in 2013, Will served as an Assistant Manager at Bank of America in Boston for a year and a half before pursuing his passion coaching acrosse.
Will is from Long Island, NY and attended St. Anthony's High School. He played lacrosse at the University of Massachusetts graduating in 2013. Manny finished his career as UMass' 5th all time leading scorer with 201 points (107 goals, 94 assists) in just 107 games. Will was a 2012 USILA First Team All-America, 2X Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Player of the Year and 2010 CAA Rookie of the Year. A four-time All-CAA honoree, he led UMass in assists all four seasons from his attack position, while pacing the Minutemen in points from 2010-12 and goals in 2010 and 2012.
Tim McDermott - Director of Operations, Face Off Specialist
Tim McDermott joined the Utes staff as the Director of Operations and Face off specialist. He played for Geneseo (D-III) for 3 seasons where was a two-time All-American and led the NCAA in face-off win percentage in the 2006 season. After graduating with a Business Administration degree, McDermott transferred to Loyola where he played in 12 games, winning 109 face-offs for a 0.586% record all while earning and MBA. He spent two years as a Volunteer Assistant at the University of Virginia under Dom Starsia, coaching the face-off specialists and goalies.
McDermott is also a consultant at The Right Profile which helps MLB, NFL, and NCAA coaches build championship teams by measuring and training what's in their players' heads and hearts. Some of their clients include the New England Patriots, Kansas City Royals, Clemson Tigers, Detroit Lions, Miami Dolphins, Seattle Mariners and USC Trojans.
